The Basics of Poker

The highest hand in a game of poker is known as a high hand. A low hand is a low hand. Similarly, a pair of two cards with one higher ranking and two lower cards is a pair. In both cases, the higher the card is, the better the hand. There are many variations of poker that involve these three different hands. Poker

When you play poker, you almost always use poker chips. If there are seven or more players, you should supply chips for each player. A white chip is the smallest and is worth five cents. A red chip is worth two, four, or five cents. Each player “buys in” by purchasing chips. Typically, everyone plays with the same amount of chips. This is known as a flop. However, a flop can occur in any position in a game of this type.

In Poker, players are usually dealt poker chips. These chips are worth a certain amount. The lowest value chip is the white chip. A red chip is worth ten or twenty-five cents and a blue chip is worth two, four, or five reds. The game begins when a player purchases poker chips. In most cases, they buy in for the same amount as their opponent. This is called a “buy-in”.
