The Basics of Poker

The best hands in Poker consist of two or more distinct pairs. Typically, a pair would consist of two cards of one rank and a 5th card of another. In a tie, the high card is the winning hand. However, if both players have pairs of cards of different rankings, the high card breaks the tie. A straight and a high pair are also winning hands. The highest-ranking hand wins. In most situations, a pair will win the game.

Poker

Almost all variants of poker use a standard 52-card deck. The cards are ranked from A (high) to J (low). The other cards are A, K, and Q. The ace is ranked highest, making a straight flush a good hand. Some variations of poker use a 53-card pack with a joker as a wild card. When a player wins a hand, their winnings are gathered into a central pot.

When a game has seven or more players, poker chips must be provided. There are several kinds of poker chips. The lowest value chip is the white one. Other colors are red, blue, and purple. Each color has its own value. If you have a white chip, you should buy it with it. A blue chip is worth twenty five times as much as a yellow chip. A blue chip is worth four or five times as many reds. If the players are betting against each other, they can use the kitty to pay for their food and new decks.
