Some variants require players to place an ante in the pot. When placing an ante, players should keep in mind that it may increase the amount of the bet they make. The player who is responsible for placing the ante is said to be an active player.

The highest card in a hand determines the winner. The value of the hand is inversely proportional to the mathematical frequency. The players can also bluff and claim that they have the best hand before a rival can match their bet and win. The game is played between five to seven players.
