Sports and Spectator Sports

A sports movie is a movie genre which makes use of sports as the main theme of the movie. It’s a fictional production where a fictional sport, player, event, or fan of favorite sport are heavily involved, and that rely heavily on sports to some extent for their main plot points or resolution. This type of movie is usually more character-driven and lighter than more serious sports movies.

The subject matter of a sports film can be quite diverse. They could be about professional athletes, or amateur athletes getting into trouble, participating in a competition, attempting to do something to uphold the moral character of their team, or using sports as a means of getting some sort of money through illegal activity. All of these themes could lead to many different plots, depending on the actual content of the movie itself. Some movies might center around a star athlete, an underdog going up against the best, controversial events, etc. For this reason, I’ve categorized the main article below, providing examples of various genres which are commonly associated with sports movies.

The first main article provided below takes the concept of disability sports and adapts it to the different types of activities generally involved in most any sport. Whether you’re talking about baseball, basketball, tennis, softball, golf, rugby, hockey, football, soccer, motorball, sailing, snowboarding, cycling, motorbikes, motor racing, motorcycling, racing motorcycles, bicycling, motorcycling, horseback riding, etc, the ability of a participant to participate normally is one of the main defining factors. For instance, a contestant on Dancing with the Stars who can only move his limbs via crutches would likely be considered incapable of taking part in the show; this would then classify him as a spectator sport.

The second main article provided below discusses the definition of sports that can also incorporate a number of other events. For instance, the definition now includes beach volleyball, beach soccer, swimming, water skiing, wind surfing, sailing, kayaking, dirt bike racing, horseback riding, ice hockey, tennis, golf, motorball, motorbikes, bicycle racing, etc. This section needs to include all the major types of sports activities in the world today!

The third main article focuses on whether a sport is competitive or not. Competitions are defined by whether there is a set level of skill and degree of skill required. If a game requires skill from each player, then it is a competition and if there is no set level of skill or degree of skill, then it is not a competition. This helps in clarifying whether a game needs to have a set level of skill to be considered as a sporting activity or whether a game needs to have some sort of level of popularity in order to be considered as a sporting activity.

The fourth main article is about what type of spectators will be allowed to watch a sporting event or game. While it used to be the case that spectators could not watch certain sporting events such as boxing or football because they were deemed’sporting’, this has become more flexible in recent years. For example, recently the UK government approved the broadcasting of football matches through the live streaming website cff. In addition, cricket fans in the UK can now watch their national team play, via online sites, while other games, such as tennis, are available for live viewing on websites such as Eurosport. Thus, the rules of who can watch sports events and which events are open to the general public have become very clear. With the growth of online video sharing websites such as YouTube and Hulu, the ability to watch sporting events directly on your computer has never been easier.
