Casino is an amazing film and one of the best examples of what a great director can do with a brilliant script. It takes many of the basic formulas from Goodfellas and applies them to a different type of story – that of the guys who run Vegas and control the flow of money, and the way lust and hubris can destroy all. It also features a superb performance by Sharon Stone, who manages to give depth to the character of the gambling-addicted hustler Ginger McKenna, and Joe Pesci plays mobster Sam Rothstein perfectly.
